Merz Pharmaceuticals has introduced its newest dermal filler, Belotero Balance. FDA approved in 2011, Belotero offers a safe and effective alternative treatment option for those seeking facial rejuvenation. This hyaluronic acid based filler is comparable to other noteworthy injectables, such as Juvederm and Restylane. However, Belotero’s density properties and molecular concentration provide smoother integration within skin tissue. The gel filler is able to spread and settle more evenly into fine lines, resulting in optimal wrinkle reduction. Because hyaluronic acid is a natural component of the skin, the body can safely absorb it over time.
Candidates for Belotero Balance
Ideal candidates for Belotero Balance are those looking to soften finer lines and wrinkles, such as crow’s feet around the eyes and marionette lines encircling the mouth. Belotero is recommended for nasolabial folds, frown lines and even the aged décolleté area. Also, patients who desire fuller lips will appreciate the plumping quality of Belotero.
The Belotero Balance Procedure
A Belotero session typically lasts 15-20 minutes. Upon consultation, the doctor will determine which formula – Soft, Basic, or Intense – is best suited to meet the patient’s needs. The gel filler is injected via a fine needle syringe into the upper dermis. If necessary, the doctor will apply a light massage to distribute the gel beneath the skin’s surface layer. Patients may experience minor discomfort during the procedure; those with sensitive skin can opt for a local anesthetic.
Belotero Recovery and Results
Side effects are minimal. One can expect some swelling, soreness and/or bruising at the injection site, but these effects subside within two to three days. Most patients can return to work immediately. Results are immediate with long lasting, voluminous effects of six to nine months. This can be an alternative to a facelift surgery.
